This is a tracking category for CS1 citation templates that have editor parameters that contain text that duplicates static text provided by the template. In particular, this category tracks cs1|2 templates that include editor annotation in |editorn=, |editor-lastn=, |editor-firstn= (and alisases). For example, |editor2=Green, V. (ed) will be rendered as Green, V. (ed), ed. Pages in this category should only be added by Module:Citation/CS1.
While most of the Citation Style 1 and Citation Style 2 error messages are visible to all readers, some remain hidden. Editors who wish to see all of the CS1|2 error messages can do so by updating either their common CSS page or their specific skin's CSS page (common.css and skin.css respectively) to include the following:
.citation-comment display: inline !important; /* show all Citation Style 1 error messages */
Even with this css installed, older pages in Wikipedia's cache may not have been updated to show these error messages even though the page is listed in one of the tracking categories. A WP:NULLEDIT will resolve that issue.
