I loved this book ... I wanted to travel to Turkey immediately. In 1985 Turkey was in the eyes of many Westerner's stuck somewhere in the clutches of 'Midnight Express' ... a scary unfathomable place. Farson took away that fear and instilled a sense of wonder that on my first visit was able to share. I met him in his home village of Appledore by chance and he signed me a copy of his book, regailed me with more tall stories and paid for a couple of beers.
He was an inspiration for me to write my own travel story "My Journey with a Remarkable Tree" ... I hope he would have approved! God Speed Daniel ...
