Titiwangsa station is a rapid transit interchange station in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that allows for transfers between the Ampang Line and Sri Petaling Line rapid transit system (formerly known as STAR) at one station, and the KL Monorail. Seamless physical and fare integration was achieved on 1 March 2012 when the "paid-up" or restricted areas of both the LRT and monorail stations, which previously operated as two separate stations, were linked up, allowing passengers to transfer without needing to buy new tickets for the first time since the monorail became operational in 2003.

Situated at Tun Razak Road (Malay: Jalan Tun Razak) in the district of Pekeliling beside Titiwangsa, just beside the Pekeliling Flats (currently was demolished), the stations are also located close to the Gombak River, as well as an adjoining bus station.

In the future, it will be integrated with the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line[1].

History[edit]

Opened in 1998 as part of the STAR line's second phase of development, the station was intended to connect Titiwangsa to other parts of the city and surrounding areas. Under Phase 2 of the STAR line, a 15 km track with 11 stations was built to serve the northern and southern areas of Kuala Lumpur to cater for the Commonwealth Village and National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil, during the KL Commonwealth Games in 1998.

Titiwangsa LRT station[edit]

The Titiwangsa LRT station is a rapid transit station along the common route of the Ampang Line and Sri Petaling Line for trains travelling south towards Ampang or Putra Heights, or north towards Sentul Timur. Initially, the station was shared by trains traveling along the yellow route to Ampang or the green route to Sri Petaling. Opened in 1998 as part of the STAR line's last phase of development, the station was intended to connect Titiwangsa to other parts of the city and surrounding areas. The station, like all stations along the northern stretch of the STAR line, is elevated, with platforms located on the top floor and ticketing facilities located on the mid-level.

Titiwangsa Monorail station[edit]

The Titiwangsa Monorail station is a later addition in the area that is intended to connect the LRT station with the KL Monorail via a link bridge. The station was constructed over Tun Razak Road and was completed in 2003, serving as the terminal station of the KL Monorail's northern end, with a buffer stop directly after the station. Like the LRT station, the monorail station sports somewhat similar level designs. The station sports a Spanish solution layout, similar to the KL Sentral Monorail Station. The station is one of two KL Monorail stations that is designated as an interchange to and from the Ampang and Sri Petaling Lines, the other being the Hang Tuah station.

Titiwangsa MRT station[edit]

The Titiwangsa MRT station will be an MRT station for the Sungai Buloh–Serdang–Putrajaya MRT line intended to integrate with both the LRT and monorail lines. It is planned to open around July 2022. As of now, it is under construction[2].

Station layout[edit]

The Titiwangsa LRT station is connected to the Monorail station via a link bridge. The Monorail station was constructed over Tun Razak Road and was completed in 2003, serving as the terminal station of the KL Monorail's northern end, with a buffer stop directly after the station.

Titiwangsa Monorail station is a later addition in the area that was intended to connect the RapidKL LRT Ampang Line and Sri Petaling Line with the KL Monorail Line via a link bridge.
