Halley Crater is an impact crater in the Argyre quadrangle of Mars, located at 48.7°S latitude and 59.3°W longitude. Halley is located on the western edge of the Argyre impact basin.[1]
It is 84.5 km in diameter and was named after Edmond Halley, and the name was approved in 1973.[2]
Halley are mostly surrounded by several mountains being part of Nereidum Montes, its nearby crater is a smaller and an unnamed one just northeast. North of Halley is the escarpment of Bosporos Rupes. Further west is the prominent crater Douglass. From halfway to two thirds of the way to Douglass is the dune field Ogygis Undae.
