Heaviside is an impact crater in the Mare Australe quadrangle of Mars, located at 70.7°S latitude and 95.3°W longitude and is inside Aonia Terra. It is 87.4 km in diameter and was named after Oliver Heaviside, and the name was approved in 1973 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN).[1]
Nearby named craters are Agassiz not far from the north located just about 40% of the crater diameter away, Lau to the southeast, Steno further west-northwest and Smith to the northwest.
Along with nearby Agassiz, Heaviside divides the plains of Argentea and Parva Plani.
