History[edit]

Between Paradise and Treasury it was the 20th Century for about a year. I didn't see this listed? Anyone have more info? (https://www.cardcow.com/251524/20th-century-hotel-casino-las-vegas-nevada/) or http://themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=NVLV2C — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rspoppel (talk • contribs) 21:28, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Image[edit]

Can anyone confirm that the picture that was inserted into the article by User:Mitchconnor is really the Hooters Casino Hotel in Las Vegas? To me it looks like the front of a Hooters restaurant in a strip mall. Misterrick 00:34, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Nope. I don't see the Trop. Also, the part closest to the road is the casino entrance and that is not as close to the road as the building in the picture. The sign is still roadside. I will admit that I did not get a good look Satuday night when I drove by. Vegaswikian 02:52, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
    • So Vegaswikian do you think the image should be removed until we can find a more appropriate one which shows the Hooters property in its in entirety? Misterrick 06:40, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
      • Yea. It just looks wrong and this is an encylopedia and what it contains should be correct. Vegaswikian 07:59, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
        • Vegaswikian, You'd be interesting in knowning after doing some research I traced that picture to an article from USA Today so it is the Hooters Casino in Las Vegas, However I don't think that it can be used since it is a copyrighted piece owned by USA Today and not a publicity still as User:Mitchconnor stated. I also suggest accordingly that a deletion of the picture from Wikipedia be initated. Misterrick 23:24, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
          • I think we will need to schedule a picture day and have some local editors drive around taking pictures. Vegaswikian 00:13, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Paradise[edit]

I see a revert-war happening on changing Las Vegas to Paradise. After a bit of research, I see that Paradise is more accurate, but to the rest of the world, that area is called Las Vegas (heck, even the USPS and Google Maps call it htat). If you want to make it Paradise, you should probably put an HTML comment in to explain why this is correct, or it's just going to keep getting edited repeatedly by those of us who aren't clued. --Randal L. Schwartz (talk) 14:19, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

It is categorized as a Las Vegas Casino. Correctly listing attraction locations is an ongoing issue with properties in metropolitan areas. There are currently discussions for Orlando and Tampa. There is no issue listing the casino where the assessors office places it. There is a big problem moving it into a city where it is not located. The USPS is not an authority on where stuff is located. For the last 35+ years my post office name does not match where I live. So using what the USPS supplies for a location is bogus, it is a mailing address and nothing more. As far as the map data bases go, I'm not positive what they use, but again it does not always match with the address. Often they use the USPS designation but not always. Just remember that the Las Vegas Strip is not in Las Vegas! Vegaswikian (talk) 19:24, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
